Fitness Digest: Dec 12, 2021

Ok… I am going to do something I don’t do very often – sell you something. But you know I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t believe in it 100%, right? Right… ok, putting on my FM DJ voice 😉

Before I even start, let me say this: this is not specifically about weight loss, it’s also not a detox, and there is no calorie counting or forbidden foods. The focus is on developing healthier eating habits – and couldn’t we all use that?

Video: Yard Work-out

If you find it difficult to make time to get the movement that your body requires, I suggest using yard work as a way to move more and have fun while you do it!

With a few modifications, yard work can be one of the best workouts you can do. It naturally has opportunities to squat, bend, lift, pull and carry. And if you follow my lead, you can add in a few extra movements like lunges, toe touches, torso twists, push-ups and even a few Jedi-like moves.

Choosing movements that have a purpose beyond simply “getting some exercise” can be easier to fit into your day, often because they can take place outside of your dedicated exercise time (which is a relatively small portion of your day).

So, I suggest you use this video as inspiration for your yard work but also look for opportunities while doing other chores to get more movement into your life! It’s a fun way to get and stay fit.

Movement Digest – Nov 28, 2021

I am going to keep this short because we got a cute little rescue kitten last week and she is my world right now!

But one thing movement/fitness related that I will say before I dive into the digest is: if you want to increase your floor time (and here are some good reasons to do that) getting a new pet is the perfect way to do it! I am always a bit of a floor sitter but lately I am exclusively a floor sitter, crawler, layer, and roller.
