Welcome to the eighth edition of my bi-weekly roundup. It has been a truly busy two weeks. I am not one of the people who pride themselves on how busy they always are so I don’t say that as a brag but rather as an apology. I don’t like it when life gets this way and I am taking steps to remedy it.
If you find yourself getting “too busy” I suggest you do the same. Instead of pulling your socks up, let them droop and see if you can let some of the less important stuff slide for a bit. I am sure you will feel better for it in the long run.
Ok, on with the round-up. If any of the following topics happen to tickle your fancy, click the underlined text to find out more!
Scientific American – 10 Tips to Supercharge Your Running Routine By rethinking our running habits we can maximize running’s benefits and minimize its shortcomings.
Get-Fit Guy – How, When, and Whether to Use Cryotherapy Cryotherapy sounds like something you sleep in on your way to Mars, but it is actually simply what you are doing when you ice a sore ankle, take a refreshing cold shower, or ice your hand after burning it on a hot stove. Simply put, it is the use of ice or cold as therapy.
Get-Fit Guy – The Best Home Gym Equipment: 7+ Essentials These days I go to the gym two or three times per week but it wasn’t always like that. For years, I never stepped foot in a gym. Shocked? Well, don’t be. The reason I was able to do that is because I had a decent home gym in my not so huge apartment.
Endurance Planet – Ask The Coaches 270 Coach Lucho and I talk about Weak Glutes, How to go from a Marathon to an 800m, Why you Might have Trouble Raising your Heart Rate, and more!
Get-Fit Guy – Why You Should Stop Saying a Half-Marathon Is ‘Just a Half’One of the best signs I have ever seen being held up on a race course read “Stop saying ‘It’s just a half.’ A half marathon is: 13.1 miles; 23,056 yards; 69,168 feet; 830,016 inches; Amazing!” and in this blog post, I tell you why.
Get-Fit Guy – How Cardio Can Help Cure Diabetes A new study shows that cardio exercise produces a large amount of a metabolic hormone which can help combat obesity and diabetes.
BrockArmstrong.com – Workout of the Week #16 In this WoW I explain what I do in the evening to prepare myself for a good night’s sleep.
Road running – I ran in the Eastside 10k on Sep 15. It was rainy but fun and I came in under my goal time – woohoo! So, after that success, I am now eyeing a fall half marathon (not just a half) in November. So far the training is going very well and I am feeling positive.
Spectating – I am not racing but I will be at the Chicago Marathon at the end of the week, cheering and grabbing some interviews. If you are going to be there, let’s met up!
And that is that. Phew! See what I mean? It has been a busy two weeks!
